The FIT Kids Act can make a meaningful difference in the fight against childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes by encouraging public schools to offer enough high-quality physical education.
In an historic vote, the House passed The Affordable Health Care for America Act on Saturday with a vote of 220-215. Several Members of Congress highlighted stories from people with diabetes during the debate over the weekend.
If enacted, the Affordable Health Care for America Act will end discrimination against people with diabetes by prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage or charging higher premiums to people with diabetes.

Health Care Matters
Jeremiah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2007. Now a huge portion of his monthly income goes to paying for his diabetes prescriptions and supplies. Because Jeremiah has no insurance, he’s also had to delay treatment and care because of cost. A small business owner, he’s tried to get insurance coverage for himself and his employees, but “it was going to be over $2,000 a month, and the coverage wasn’t even going to cover my diabetes, or kick in for a year.” Jeremiah hopes legislators realize that everyone should have access to health care. “I’m not asking for the best care in the world, but just something.” Read more and learn how you can help
